The Mobile Unit was the center piece of our previous Shelter’s (Table Mountain Animal Center) spay/neuter, vaccination and medical program. Launched on May 10, 2007, the unit completed approximately 3,000 procedures in its first year of operation. Unfortunately, the past shelter was built in 1976 without medical facilities, which necessitated animals to be sent to off-site veterinary clinics to conduct spay/neuter and other medical procedures. It allowed Table Mountain Animal Center to provide medical attention to all of the animals at the Center. It also offered a great low-cost option for spay/neuter procedures to all animals in the community. The new Foothills Animal Shelter comes complete with a spacious surgical suite, which has made the mobile unit more available for special events as well as mobile animal care and welfare services.
