In July of 2007, the cities of Arvada, Lakewood, Golden, Wheat Ridge, Westminster (including the residents of both Jefferson and Adams County) and unincorporated Jefferson County implemented a Dog Licensing Program. A dog license is mandatory in these jurisdictions. For any city or town in Jefferson County not listed above, dog licensing is voluntary. Since September 2008, all dog licensing proceeds have been allocated to support two crucial needs for Foothills Animal Shelter. The fees help pay for construction costs of the new facility and build an endowment (ie: savings account) for Shelter services such as adoptions and education.Dog licensing is the law, encourages responsible dog ownership and enhances public safety. A license also supports your community animal shelter! You may license your dog at Foothills Animal Shelter (the fees range from $15-$30).For more information, and to see a complete listing of other area dog licensing locations, go to http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/sheriff/sheriff_T62_R210.htm.PLEASE GO TO OUR EVENTS PAGE TO SEE ALL OF OUR OFFSITE LICENSING, VACCINE AND MICROCHIP CLINICS IN THE COMMNUNITY!Please take a moment to view “Jefferson County inSights” – a fantastic video that reminds us of the importance of dog licensing.
